Poetry and ExerciseToday I took the five poem drafts I wrote on Saturday to my critique group and got some good suggestions and encouragement. I expect to get at least a couple of good verses after working them over. Since I’ve been included in a group of poets who meet in Sherwood each month, I’ll need poems to read. I hope to get back in the groove and write more verses. Some, I hope, will be suitable to intermingle with my memoir stories. I have some such poems written already. Every other week when I go to the critique group meeting, I climb a flight of stairs. When I first began attending, the stairs were difficult for me. Sometimes I went up, or even down, one at a time. Today I noticed that I climbed the flight easily. That’s very encouraging and helps motivate me to get over to the pool every day for my swim/exercise session.
One of my swim friends has a quirky sense of humor and always makes me laugh at least once every time I see her. I’m sure that helps my mental state and probably my physical health. I realize I’m very fortunate to live where exercise facilities, including an indoor pool and two outdoor pools are available to me. The hot tub spa is a great finish to any swim.
