Quirky PoetryCompared to most of the poetry being published today, the verse I write is a bit quirky. A late poet friend who reviewed my poetry book when it came out, kindly referred to my work as “accessible.” On the back cover of the book, I called it “Poetry you can understand.” The few readers who come across examples of my verse and are intrigued by it, seem to be very enthusiastic. I sold a book today to such a person, the niece of a long-time friend, who read some samples at his home. Actually, he purchased the book as a gift for her, because she liked the preview. Samples of my poems appear on my website. A different one randomly appears each time the site is accessed. And, of course, directions for purchasing My Muse Has Many Moods also appear there. I can’t honestly say that anyone should rush to buy, as if I were about to run out. I still have nearly 200 copies in my closet, of the 500 I originally purchased. But it is a fun book that makes a good gift for early Christmas shoppers. Now that the commercial is out of the way, I can add that we had a nice visit with old friend and his niece today. She lives in a tiny town in Montana—population 250, I think she said. I’ve never experienced super small town living, but have lived in some that were small enough that most everyone knew everyone else’s business and passed the information around. While working on my memoirs recently, I’ve tried to go back and fill in all the places I’ve lived in my lifetime—and there are many—all grist for the writing mill. |
