Route 99As I was driving back from Tualatin on Highway 99 today, I recalled how many years I’ve been traveling up and down Highway 99 in both Washington and Oregon. For twenty years I lived in Vancouver and traveled busy 99 with all its fast food eateries and other commercial establishments. From Hazel Dell, I watched the rapid growth of buildings along that highway. Now that I live in Tigard, Highway 99, aka Pacific Highway, is just a stone’s throw from our apartment door. It, too, is almost totally lined with commercial structures of all descriptions. Route 66, a famous thoroughfare in this country, has a song written about it. It is as famous as Highway 99 is infamous for its traffic congestion and, in many areas, unsightly architecture Thus, there will probably never be a song about “Route 99.” But that’s where I log most of my miles these days. This weekend I’m going to try to get the first of my travel journal entries from the recent cruise posted to the travel pages on my website. Later, I may add a few pictures, but I’ll try to get the text up as quickly as I get it edited. In my next life, I plan to study electronics or engineering or something more useful than English and Latin. I am definitely technically challenged. Buying a new cordless phone yesterday and getting it set up, took a lot more time than it should have. Now we have two fully charged handsets with numbers on them we can read. The old phone worked okay most of the time, but the lettering on the keys was wearing off. With my old eyes, I got a few too many wrong numbers
Now to get to setting up travel pages, if I can remember how.
