Second Day of Brighter SightToday I managed to get by with only one nap, so I hope to sleep very well tonight. Just doing a load of laundry exhausted me to the point that I didn’t feel guilty vegging out in front of the television. I get a kick out of the Saturday A & E shows, “Sell This House,” and “Flip This House.” Yesterday I had three naps after the post-op appointment and slept most of the night. The doctor pronounced my progress to be “perfect” when he removed the patch and examined the eye. I was disappointed when I tried to read the eye chart, but learned that the vision would improve with healing. It has already improved so that I can see better without glasses with that eye, but still need them for the left eye. I was instructed to wear the glasses in the daytime and an eye patch at night for protection. My eye felt scratchy for most of the morning today, but feels almost normal now. An interesting exercise is closing one eye and then the other and comparing the vision. My hair and skin appear to be slightly different colors when viewed through the cataract on my left eye or the clear lens on the right. Learning to put drops in the eye four times a day and tape on the eye patch at night has been fun. I’ll be glad when I no longer have to be my own nurse. Nursing was my last choice as a possible profession when I was young. We had dinner in a nearby neighborhood restaurant and ran into our next-door neighbors there. We usually only see them once or twice a month in the wintertime at musical programs, or other local gatherings.
Daylight saving time is back again already. Every year it seems to take me longer to adjust to the time changes.
