Shall We Fry Eggs on the Sidewalk

We are likely to be chilly tomorrow when the temperature is supposed to drop to 83 degrees. Reportedly it was 106 in Tigard today (where we live) and 102 is the high in Portland. We are very fortunate to have power and an air conditioner that is pumping its little heart out. It’s not able to keep the temperature under 80, but it does help. So does the cold, wet washcloth I’m wearing on the back of my neck. Yesterday there were some power outages for as long as seven hours. But not in Tigard. Our low last night was 71 degrees.

I just got an email from my son Kurt who’s in San Jose on business. It is much cooler there. He said he arrived in time for a free dinner at the hotel, but there were only breadsticks and salad left. The lasagna had disappeared, but he didn’t mind. I’m having mint chocolate chip ice cream for dinner.

I guess I won’t put up pictures every night on the blog. AOL seems to choke on them if there are too many.

Al and I had not played cards since April, according to the score sheet, so we tried to remember how to play Spite and Malice this afternoon. It took a while for it all to come back. I can remember games I learned years ago better than ones I’ve learned recently. We haven’t played chess for quite a while now either, and I don’t remember much about it

Tomorrow my critique group meets and I’m taking the rest of my travel journals, so I hope I can get them posted before we start our move.
