Snow ScareYesterday morning I awoke to see white covering many surfaces outside and what looked like powder snow coming down. That prompted this little ditty: To the Weather Controller: If I want to see snow, Fortunately, the snowstorm was brief and melted rapidly. This morning the temperature on the front porch was about ten degrees warmer than yesterday. I like it. I broke down and bought what we used to call an electric blanket yesterday. I walked all over the store before I found the “heated blankets” hiding in a corner. I had to have a clerk point them out to me. In recent years, I’ve avoided these blankets since they’re not recommended for the elderly. However, I decided I could at least warm the bed and turn off the heat after I got in. It felt so good when I crawled in, however, I decided to turn it to Low and leave it on. I had the best night’s sleep I’ve had in ages. It’s hard to imagine that the lowest setting could be harmful to anyone. I’m feeling noble about some closet shelf cleaning I did this morning. I went through some old briefcases. I’m ashamed to admit some had materials in them that had been there more than ten years. Anyway, I stuck two of them in the Goodwill bag and will probably get rid of more when I get to another closet shelf. One I’m keeping, since it’s lighter than the case I’m using for my laptop, so I’ll take it on the Hawaii cruise with the computer inside. It has a good shoulder strap, also. Time to get back to the pile of letters in my little office corner. |
