State of Panic

After an enjoyable day, spending time reading in the sun on the deck and a long swim session, I stopped at a grocery store. I had brought just my billfold, not my purse, and I started feeling sick at the store. I quickly picked out a few items, then checked out and headed for home.

Hours later, I looked for my billfold. I searched my swim bag several times, searched the car and the parking lot around the car, and—no billfold. By this time, the store was closed. So now, I get to try to sleep worried about whether my identity is in the hands of some stranger. There is even an extra key to my car in my billfold, along with my address on my driver’s license and an insurance card with a description of the car. How handy for a thief! I pulled the registration and insurance card out of the glove box. At least if the car is stolen, they won’t have the registration.

So far, I’ve found the numbers to all but one of my credit and debit cards. I only have two of each, fortunately. But I’m not up for the hassle of replacing all that stuff. I can only hope someone found it and turned it in. I think there was only about $10.00 cash inside. I never carry very much.

I checked on line to see if there are any new charges tonight on any of my accounts and none have shown up. That’s some comfort, but not much.

Stay tuned for the next exciting chapter in this saga.
