Staying Warm

This morning when our housekeeper arrived and Floyd was leaving for work, I jumped in my car and went to the local eatery for a cuppa and an English muffin. I took sections of the Sunday paper along. Every week I strive to get it read by Wednesday, but rarely succeed.

After that, I went window-shopping at a nearby department store. I’d only been there once before and hadn’t realized they carry designer labels from last year’s fashions at greatly reduced prices. I really don’t need any clothes, so I managed to resist all but one $5.00 item of lingerie.

In late afternoon I took my swim and did my water exercises, then luxuriated in the warm bubbling water of the spa for a few minutes before I went home to fix dinner. After dinner, around 7:00, I put one of our fabricated logs on the fire. It’s 11:30 and I’m still waiting for the fire to go out. Throwing water in the fireplace is too messy.

Anyway, in the winter chill, I was able to stay warm and comfortable most of the day. Yesterday, I stayed inside all day and kept warm that way. So far, so good. We haven’t had serious cold temperatures with wind chill lowering the feeling even further. Maybe, with global warming, we’ll escape that this winter. We’ll see.
