Thanksgiving Dinner IIWe had our second turkey dinner today with my daughter, son-in-law, son and daughter-in-law. My son and his wife did most of the cooking. My daughter did the desserts. I baked a blackened pumpkin pie that made the house smell good, but did little to improve my knowledge of how to operate the oven on the range in this apartment. I hope to cook something in it successfully eventually. Meantime, I have the microwave, the toaster/convection oven, and a new pressure cooker. Who needs an oven anyway? If I just bake a small enough pie, I can use the convection oven. It’s on the counter so I don’t have to stoop to use it, also. Everything was delicious and we all have leftovers for the next few days. I’ll have to do some serious swimming this week to keep the scales at bay. We also had a good visit until I got clumsy and tripped over my son’s big dog, scaring him and possibly falling partially on him. I’ll probably be stiff and sore for a day or two, but my parts all seem to be working okay and I only knocked a small bit of skin off the back of one hand.
Anyway, it was a fun day and I’m confident everyone got home without encountering snow. I hope they won’t have any to deal with when going to work in the morning. These days I have the luxury of staying home in bad weather and sitting by a fire, if I choose.
