The Other Eye

Cataract surgery for my left eye is scheduled for late July. The pre and post-operative appointments have also been set up. The only thing I don’t know and won’t know until the last minute is the actual time of the surgery.

The last time I was scheduled for late morning, as I remember, and there was a fairly long delay due to unexpected complications in one or more earlier surgeries. It gave me a good bit of time to become apprehensive about what might happen. This time I pretty much know the drill, so I suppose I won’t have to wait and wonder.

I’m very excited and looking forward to the improvement in my vision and my balance. I may possibly not have to wear glasses all the time as I have since I was in the seventh grade. If so, I may need a lot of makeup to hide the bags under my eyes.

My next-door neighbor, who I suspect is older than I, told me he got the restriction for corrective lenses removed from his driver’s license after his cataract surgeries.

So I should only have another month or so of squinting and trying to focus my good and bad eye together and making new wrinkles.
