Treasure HuntSearching for the snapshots from the visit to Maui with my sisters in 2001, motivated me to start cleaning the huge master bedroom closet. Unfortunately, I found the pictures before I finished the closet. But the half I did looks so neat, it may inspire me to finish. Not to mention that I located long-lost stuff that had never been unpacked since the move here a year ago. The “elephant” in the closet is a red footlocker that sits in plain sight every time I open the doors where I keep the clothes I wear each day. That container is stuffed full of photos. The familiar becomes invisible after a while. I can’t believe how many snapshots I took on that one trip. I need to find out whether photographic paper can be recycled, because I intend to toss a lot of pics into the round file. I should also scan more of my pre-computer pictures into my photo library. Then I can throw the rest away. Another project in my plans is to unframe family pictures that formerly hung on a hall wall and tuck them in a scrapbook or photo album. I have very ambitious plans to rearrange bedroom furniture after I get the closets cleaned. We’ll see how long the motivation and/or energy lasts. This morning I rearranged the kitchen counters so that I could plug both the toaster oven and microwave into a surge protector. I found a new protector in a Radio Shack sack on a closet shelf. Both appliances are fairly new and I like them and use them almost daily, so I don’t want to lose either one. My editing job was finished in mid-week and I met the writer and turned over the marked-up pages to her. So far, I haven’t heard from her about any problems deciphering my chicken scratches. She is a retired dentist so perhaps she’s used to reading poor handwriting. Maybe even hers. Now I’m typing up my journal notes from the Maui trip that I located while looking for the pictures. Maybe I’ll add that to my travel pages. Somewhere, I think, in one of my computers, there’s a journal of my trip to Ireland and maybe even the South Africa trip. I could add those also.
Just thinking about all those projects puts me in need of a nap.
