Unaccustomed As I AmWhen I was traveling regularly a few years back getting ready for a trip wasn’t a big deal. Now it’s been at least a year since I’ve gone anywhere and longer since I’ve flown. Add to that the fact that I’m getting older and less organized, and, three days before departure, I’m feeling a bit stressed. It seems as if there are dozens of details I have to remember to take care of at the last minute. Probably the world won’t end if I forget something. But too many extraneous things have been taking up my time this week. Both auto insurance premiums had to be paid. I paid one, the other will be done tomorrow. The Oregon Primary Election is this week also and we got our ballots marked tonight. Fortunately, there is a ballot drop box across the street from this apartment. I still have to decide what bag to use for a carry-on. So far, I haven’t located definite dimension requirements on line, so I may have to call the travel agent. I’m not taking a computer with me; it’s just one more thing to keep track of and it slows down the security check. I’ll probably go into withdrawal, but I can borrow my sister’s computer occasionally, I’m pretty sure. Time for a trip to the drugstore for a few last-minute purchases. |
