Wild Weather DayWe’ve had wild weather all day today and our weather reporter predicts another six to twelve hours of heavy rain before it turns to showers. He called this deluge a “pineapple express” from out of the Pacific where it scooped up the remnants of a typhoon. Three houses on the Oregon Coast are in danger of falling into the sea tonight and Highway 101 is under water in a number of places. We headed out the door this morning as our housekeeper headed in. Floyd planned to go to work and I would stop at the coffee klatch and then go to the library to study the election measures. Floyd’s car wouldn’t start, so we called AAA and he waited for a jump for about an hour and a half. By the time he got it started, I was back and our housecleaner had finished. He decided to go ahead out to the warehouse so he could charge the battery up. I think he regretted that decision after he drove back home in the terrible weather. I was greeted at the coffee group, by a man who declared loudly, “I’ll never vote for another Democrat for the rest of my life.” I didn’t take the bait and managed to change the subject. When he tried to pick it up again, I turned and talked to someone else. The gal who introduced the loud guy to me called him “Bad Bob.” Later today I managed to mark my ballot and get it ready to drop in the collection box in front of City Hall tomorrow. I also worked on my Quicken program and wrote a few checks.
For my critique group meeting tomorrow, I made copies of two recent poems that can use some tinkering and will take those with me. By Noon when I leave for the meeting, I hope the weather will have calmed some, as promised.
