Writing Trivia

Well, my notebook computer is in the hospital, possibly having some viruses surgically removed and additional memory transplanted. It’s going to get a new battery also and then, I guess, I’ll hang with it for a few more years. I’m not ready to take on Vista yet. I may put this dinosaur desktop out to pasture.

My writing group on Tuesday was great fun. It’s a real upper to have someone unexpectedly quote lines that I’ve written. One of the critique pals is a fan of my poetry and shocks me now and then by reciting some of it back to me. I’ve been writing verses again and it may be time to start another poetry book. With print-on-demand publishing, I won’t be hauling around boxes of any new books for the rest of my life. I still have a box or two of My Muse Has Many Moods, the one I published in 1995.

Maybe I’ll get ambitious and enter a few poetry contests again just for the heck of it. Some of the contests send you books of winning entries that can help you figure out what’s being published and, maybe even read, these days. So much of what I see is enigmatic. I like to write verses that real people can understand. I have seen a few such poems recently.

My annual get-together with my sisters next month will undoubtedly produce some fodder for my fingers on the keyboard. Just the other day I got around to writing a verse about our visit to Maui together several years ago. That was a fun recollection.

Going back to our roots should be sentimental and educational. I’m looking forward to it.
