Filing and Other Trivia

Today I moved more than a thousand files from an obsolete laptop computer to my desktop. I’ll probably move them to my new notebook computer also, so I can take them with me when I travel. How did I do it? I’d be willing to bet it was the hard way. There is undoubtedly an easier way that I just haven’t learned yet, but I’m working on it. At least I didn’t have to move each one individually as I had done at times in the past.
More than half the day was spent writing about my earliest employment experiences, starting at age eleven. It was fun to dredge up all those old memories and get them on paper, so to speak. On screen, actually.

Coincidentally, one of my early jobs was file clerk at an insurance company. Filing thin sheets of paper in numerical order was boring, but much simpler than filing in this modern equipment.

Yesterday my webmaster son set up archives on this weblog, so that readers may go back and read previous articles after they disappear from view on the first page of the blog. I was able to maneuver my way easily through the archives, clicking from one to the next, or to the previous one. If I can do it, anyone can
