Off to Soggy Southern CaliforniaIt’s a gorgeous morning slightly Southwest of Portland, Oregon. The sun is out, and a breeze has blown the fog away. It is still chilly overnight and into the morning, but afternoons are very pleasant. Putting up with a plane ride both ways is another matter. Years ago, I wrote a poem speculating about what the Wright Brothers might have done if they’d had a crystal ball to see what would happen to their invention in the far-off future. I can’t remember the name of it, so it would take too long to find it and include it today. If I remember, I’ll put it in an entry at a later date. The good news is the flight only takes about two and a half hours. The bad news is we’ll be landing in San Diego in an MD-80, pretty big, as I remember. San Diego Airport has limited space with water at one end of the runways. I always marvel at a safe landing there. |
