A Discouraging Word

This morning, while reading a writer’s blog, I encountered the following: “So you think you want to write a memoir? Please don’t.”

Too late; mine is well underway.

This writer goes on to list many memoir/autobiographies already published in a number of different categories and implies that it’s all be done, so why bother.

Probably those of us who are compelled to tell our stories believe we are unique and interesting. Most of us are probably wrong, but who knows which ones?

I will plunge back into my stories and not be discouraged by that blogger’s opinion. It hasn’t bothered me that neither my poetry books nor my romance advice book are bestsellers. I think my effort is worthwhile if even one person enjoys, learns from, or appreciates something I’ve written. Besides, the writing keeps me out of mischief
