Shhh Big Brother is Watching and Listening

Today I received a post card from one of my credit card companies. Their spies had discovered I made an online purchase from X company. They advised me that, if I had charged it to their card, I could have saved 10%. Thank goodness I wasn’t buying porno or some illegal substance.

Little did I suspect, when I read Brave New World long ago, that I would live to see so many of its predictions come to pass. I’ve thought for some time that the Soma referred to in that book was probably Valium. I could be wrong; there are so many popular drugs today.

I wonder how much money a cyber spy makes. It can’t be nearly as exciting as being a private investigator in a mystery novel, but I suppose it could be moderately interesting.

Anyway, as annoying as it is to know that so many people know so much about me, I’ll be sure to get my 10% discount on my next purchase from X company.
