Climate and Other Changes

Now that July is more than half over, we are finally enjoying some wonderful weather—not too hot, nor cold, nor wet. Our oversized umbrella on the outdoor table makes lounging on our deck very comfortable. It also protects some of the flowers that the sun burns. Our potted tomato plant loves the sun and is loaded with blooms. Three tiny tomatoes are developing now, also.

Speaking of climate changes, I’m ecstatic that Congress had the votes to override the president’s veto of Medicare legislation. Those of us who keep track of politicians and let them know what we think do have some clout, especially in an election year. I think AARP deserves credit for their efforts in mounting grass roots support.

With the help of the King City TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) group, I’ve managed to lose seven pounds in two and a half months. Not a big number, but it’s going in the right direction. I’ll probably never get my hourglass figure back, but I’ll at least look less like a sack of spuds. Obviously, I’m not that concerned about my appearance; I’ve been showing up at a pool in a swimsuit almost daily for more than two years. The weight loss is to give my joints a lighter load and improve my health. I hope to triple that loss by the end of the year. Then I can give myself some new clothes for Christmas.
