Calm after the Storm

After a sleepless night waiting for someone to show up and steal my car, I called the grocery store where I thought I’d left my billfold in a cart. None had been turned in. So I called the credit card companies and the credit union to get my cards cancelled and new ones ordered. That done, I called the Department of Motor Vehicles to see how much identification I needed for a duplicate license. Oregon law recently changed and I knew it was more complicated now than before.

While I was gathering up my passport, a tax return with my Social Security number on it (in lieu of Social Security card), and a current utility bill with my current address on it, I found the billfold. I’m too embarrassed to report where I found it.

It was a relief not to have to be driven to D.M.V., wait in line, get a new picture taken, etc. I probably could have had the restriction for adequate glasses removed, but I can do that another time. Since my cataract surgeries, I’m told my vision is adequate to drive without corrective lenses, but I prefer to wear them since I can see far off more clearly.

Since the cataract repairs, I can navigate around the house, read and view the computer monitor screen better without glasses, since I don’t have to figure out which area of the trifocals to look through. When I’m driving, I’m focusing through the distance lens most of the time.

All’s well that ends well. Now my major problem will be memorizing new P.I.N. numbers.
