Celebrating Thanksgiving

We had a busy and most enjoyable Thanksgiving celebration over the last few days. We went to Seattle to join several of Floyd’s offspring and their families for a dinner on Thursday and came back to have a second dinner with my two kids, their spouses and a couple of their friends. The food was fabulous at both meals and the time spent with family was a highlight.

None of the driving was as bad as we expected; we went to Seattle on Wednesday and stayed in a Bellevue motel. The hosting family came to greet us and we all walked to a nearby Chinese restaurant for dinner that night. The next day, with the aid of a Yahoo map and set of directions, we found our way to his son’s house and joined the other relatives for a traditional dinner with added niceties.

We drove back on Friday in moderately heavy traffic and rested at home. I had a swim and hot tub soak.

The second traditional dinner was earlier today and we arrived early so we could visit before dinner and get home ahead of traffic and darkness. Floyd thought he wanted to see the Civil War game until it began to go sour and he gave up on it before it was over. Not being a sports fan, I took a nap.

I managed to get through the first dinner without gaining at all, but won’t know until tomorrow or Monday how I did with the second one. All the food was so great.

Sunday we will bask in the remembered glow of good food and good company and eat leftovers.

We have much to be thankful for. All our families are employed and mostly healthy and happy.
