Technology WoesWith more than sixty years practice at keyboarding, as it’s now called, I’m pretty skilled at it. It was called typing, back in the day, as they say. So now I have a stack of poems I’ve written over the years that are not in my new computer with its already-obsolete Vista operating system. I have the poems on a CD, but can’t figure out how to transfer them. The term “new computer” above is relative. I think any computer is probably obsolete after three to six months. Actually, I could probably keyboard the thirty poems in faster than to pull them off the CD. Obviously I don’t understand the Vista indexing system and I’m certainly not going to bother to learn, since Microsoft has already dumped Vista. I could also solicit some help and pay someone else for their time. My time is probably not nearly as valuable as that of a tech nerd. So wish me happy keyboarding! Actually, it’s probably a good thing to sit in a warm room and relax my creative brain while I mindlessly work on the task I’ve decided to accept. I’m on the third day of an antibiotic prescribed for a sinus infection. I think they must put sleeping powder in those pills. The best thing I’ve done on those three days is nap and sleep. I do manage to drag myself to the clothes washer and dishwasher every now and then and I actually made it to Safeway just a few long blocks from here—not on foot—yesterday. Today, so far, I’ve managed to put soap in the washing machine and turn it on and fix myself a bowl of cereal and a finger food lunch. The rest of the time I’ve spent reading and goofing around with the computer. I can now roll my eyes and move my head quickly without the severe pains I had for several days, but I’ll finish the bottle of pills to prevent a relapse. I’m also still enjoying “Breathe Easy” tea to help keep my head clear. I inhale the steam and drink the tea. I have a lot to do in the next few weeks, and I need to be at the top of my game. Even that is not as high as it was in years back. |
