A Legal OpinionAn interesting email popped into my inbox this evening and I had a good time responding to it. It was a request from Legal Vote to give my opinion as a pseudo juror in an alleged actual personal injury lawsuit. I checked out Legal Vote and decided they looked fairly legitimate. I was suspicious at first, but they only asked for my email address, which they obviously already had and my zip code and general information, such as gender, age, etc. No name and address were requested. Since, in my former life, I was a legal assistant for an insurance defense lawyer handling personal injury cases, it was a bit of déjà vu for me. I was given a lot of information, some pictures and figures and asked for a verdict, as well as an explanation of how I arrived at my conclusions. I’m curious about what they do with this information and how many people they poll. Maybe if I keep checking their Google websites, I can learn more about them. I did learn that an interested person may contact them and ask to be added to their list of prospective jurors. Anyway, it was a fun distraction. I’m still fighting the stubborn sinus infection and very low on energy. Sitting at the computer and taking naps are how I spend most of my time. The update on the carpenter ant invasion is that I received a plug-in gadget today that I’d ordered that’s supposed to create a vibration that annoys bugs and small rodents and drives them away, rather than injuring or killing them. However, the instructions say it might take two to four weeks to be effective, so I won’t know whether it did the job or the spraying by the exterminators finally got rid of them, assuming we do get rid of them. |
