Quiet Holiday Weekend

We had a very quiet Memorial Day weekend, spending most of it at, or near, home. Floyd helped a friend at a yard sale on Friday and Saturday. I did my swim and exercise routine Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Minimal chores took a small amount of my time, and I worked on writing for several hours each day.  Yesterday we both sat on our deck reading and enjoying the comfortable sunshine for a few hours in the afternoon.

I finished reading a Sandra Brown book, which I liked well enough to look for more of hers when I get back to the library. Now I’m trying to get into Ken Follett’s Eye of the Needle. It doesn’t seem to lend itself to reading a few lines or pages at a time, as well as the one I just finished.  The time frame of the book is World War II. I remember some of that history, but I was pretty young and sheltered at that time. Our private King City Library has a lot of books, so I rarely get to the public libraries any more unless there is a special program scheduled.

The poetry muse has returned to my side, thus I’ve written several new verses recently. I’m teaching my writers’ group, none of whom write poetry, to critique it. They are very helpful and I’m getting together a batch of edited poems to use in my memoirs and possibly in another poetry book, if I can get enough energy to put it together.

Tomorrow I’m back to days that are slightly more scheduled. My critique group meets in the afternoon, and I have errands to run, so I may or may not get to the pool. My car is due for an oil change and tire rotation which I hope to get done this week. Now that there are no more blossoms falling from the tree above my parking spot, I got the car washed this weekend.
