New Building

Out here in King City a new building just went up on Highway 99 near Albertson’s. Biscuit Café, one of the tenants, opened their restaurant yesterday. I stopped there for lunch today. They have a slogan that goes something like, “We don’t serve fast food. We serve fresh food as fast as we can.” They also have at least a couple of waitpersons who formerly worked in other restaurants nearby. I recognized them. The service was good, the food palatable, and they were pretty busy at 1:00 p.m.

Driving away, I noticed a sign on the other end of the building that said, “Coming Soon—Panda Express. That will make at least three Oriental restaurants within about a half-mile radius. Both of these new places are chains. They are certainly optimistic to be opening new locations in these times. It may have something to do with our relatively new “premier” shopping center about a mile away—Bridgeport Village. I was astounded when they built the center, but it appears to be doing okay. They probably draw people from Sherwood, Tualatin, Tigard, King City and who knows where. The two times I’ve been there parking was a problem. In the evening, I had to utilize the valet parking.

It will be interesting to see if the many food purveyors in this area all survive. Biscuit Café is only open for breakfast and lunch, for now anyway. So they will probably pull customers away from Shari’s and Elmer’s. I hope there are enough of us to go around.
