Who Are These People

Recently I’ve browsed through a number of blogs, and read some of the news items on the internet. Scrolling down through hundreds of comments, I am alarmed by the hate and vitriol, as well as the apparent lack of knowledge of the comments’ authors. I can’t help but wonder who these people are and whether they spend all their time pecking away at a keyboard. Do they work for a living? Do they have lives? Actually, it might be comforting to learn that not many of them are out and about acting on their strong opinions.

They have something to say about everything and everyone that’s in the limelight. I don’t have the time (or the inclination) to comment on much of anything. Especially not the antics of celebrities. My strong feelings on any given subject may find their way into a poem, or not.

Anyway, the thought that some of this highly opinionated group of people may cross my path at any time makes me afraid. Should I be very afraid?
