Better Day

Today was a better day than I’ve had for a while. I had enough energy to swim this morning, and do a little grocery shopping and a little laundry. I still spent about half the day sitting around, dabbling at the computer and resting. But I have noticeably more energy. Even after a bit of carpet cleaning resulting from dropping a bottle of berry juice, I’m still not feeling exhausted.

The usual Saturday morning swimmers were missing today. One woman was leaving as I got to the pool, and another came in as I was leaving, but I didn’t know either one of them. One gal I usually see on weekends had been there and signed out and left.  As other swimmers have commented on, the time goes more slowly if there’s no one to talk to while you exercise and paddle around.

Floyd found a book at a flea market that was written in 1957 about the history of five and dime stores, started originally by Woolworth. Much of the information is taken from an autobiography Woolworth started but didn’t finish before he died.  I’m reading the book now and it’s quite interesting. I’ve probably read more books since I retired than I read in my entire life before that. For awhile I had two or three books going at one time, but I quit that so I could get other things done.

Tomorrow should be fun. We hope to get our new Wii set up and try out some games.
