“Monkeys is the Craziest People”

Not really. People are crazier. Just today I read about a Wal-Mart employee who reported a couple who had taken pictures of youngsters at bath time. The couple was convicted of child pornography and serious penalties resulted including requiring them to register as sex offenders. Once again Wal-Mart is endearing themselves to the public—not. The resulting furor will be interesting to watch. Is there anyone in this country who doesn’t have at least one nude baby picture in their family album?

Almost any day you can browse through newspapers, Internet news, etc. and find many examples of craziness. I’ve seen numerous lists of bumbling criminals who make all kinds of stupid mistakes such as leaving items at crime scenes that can identify them.

Yesterday I eavesdropped on a conversation about how rude Americans are becoming. There have been several examples in the news lately, the most outrageous being the heckling of the president by a politician at a recent speech. When I was doing so much traveling around the world, I often noticed ugly behavior by my countrymen and, while I am always glad to be an American, I can’t say I’m always proud to be. That’s not to say that I didn’t encounter rude behavior by citizens of other countries. Bad manners are not restricted to any nationality or generation.

I just took a break to have a short instant message conversation with my son who is vacationing in Hawaii. He and his wife visited a coffee plantation today and learned that coffee beans are being picked on Kauai by blueberry picking machines invented in the Pacific Northwest. When we were in Maui, women were picking coffee and it looked like drudgery. If you’d like to learn more about coffee production refer to: http://www.kauaicoffee.com/index.php?page=what-s-happening-at-kcof

Now I’m hankering to go back to Hawaii and not in the mood to further philosophize.
