Do You Remember

It’s a new experience for me to belong to an organization where the majority of the members are old enough to have memory problems. The pro tem secretary of our T.O.P.S. chapter couldn’t remember who had been the best loser at last week’s meeting and she wanted to include that in the minutes, so she called me this morning. I couldn’t remember either. Fortunately, we were sure another member, whose memory is no better than ours, would have recorded the information. We were right about that, so the minutes will be complete, I later learned. Just as we support each other in our weight loss efforts, we assist one another with the frailties of aging. Some of us, specifically myself, need all the help we can get.

Our potluck was a big success; I tasted almost everything, but took just one bite of each delicious dish, hoping not to sabotage my weight loss program. I took dessert home and ate it later, after a dinnertime snack.

It’s a strange Halloween evening. In this senior citizen complex we have no trick-or- treaters. There may be some parties around, but I don’t have much interest in going out in traffic on any holiday anymore.

I planted some pansies and violas in pots this afternoon. I hope I don’t lose them with the first frost. I’ll try to remember to cover them if it gets really cold.
