Treasure Hunt

Yesterday I began looking for a document I created several years ago. I couldn’t find “Things I Wonder About” on either computer, or on backup CD’s or DVD’s. I decided it must be on my flash drive so I went to my little lockbox and the flash drive wasn’t there. I haven’t looked at it for months, so I thought it might be in the case that I carry the laptop in when I travel. Not so. I began to panic because I thought I had a lot of documents on the flash drive, but I calmed down and began checking drawers in my office. It was in its little velvet sack in the drawer of a small table.

After I checked it out, I discovered it’s loaded with pictures, and I found no documents. Those seem to all be on CD’s and DVD’s. I must have been pretty disorganized when I moved documents between computers. I’m resigned to the fact that I’ll never master computers in this lifetime and that’s okay. Meanwhile, there’s still a chance that I’ll eventually stumble on the missing document in some obscure corner of a computer or recording device.

If not, so be it; I have plenty of stories to edit and organize, and more that I need to write.
