New Weight Loss DiscoveryFor a weight loss jump-start, just work alongside my sister for three days. With healthy eating and grinding hard work, I lost three pounds. Before she arrived I was in danger of losing my status in T.O.P.S. by being within one-tenth of a pound of the three-pound leeway over my goal weight. She, who came down from Seattle by train to help me get ready for my move, and I were the “big kids” and our two younger sisters were the “little kids” when we were growing up. Yesterday, after I took her to the train station, I was thinking about how we drove our mother crazy with our bickering when doing dishes. Today we work together like a crack team and enjoy catching up with what’s going on with our families as we toil. At my age, downsizing into an apartment slightly more than half the size of the one I’m in now, is a daunting task. Last night I looked around at all the boxes (somewhere around sixty, I think) and the furniture and wondered if it can be done. I have hauled several carloads of discards to Goodwill and have another load ready to go now. But, is it enough? Stay tuned, and we’ll find out. In addition to the packed boxes, there are numerous containers that I’d pre-packed. As Dr. Phil says, “This ain’t my first rodeo.” I’m sure I must have gypsy blood in there somewhere. I’d hoped to get the keys at least a week before now, but the new carpeting was not installed until yesterday, and they will have my future home cleaned sometime today, I hope. If so, I can go over there with a few things and maybe line some cupboard and pantry shelves to prepare for the weekend move. Wish me luck, or pray for me, whichever is your preference. |
