Another Day - Another Few Words

Rather than bore you with the details of the frustrating hours I’ve spent today trying to get this computer to write to a CD as it is supposed to do and has done in the past, I’ll think of something pleasant to write about. There’s a run-on sentence to drink to.

The ongoing story of my employment in the early years of my life is going well. As I dredge for details, more memories return. Although I held a lot of jobs, I wasn’t really a Jill of all trades. But, because of the shortage of workers during World War II, I had opportunities that teenagers today don’t have. I never did work in a hamburger joint, and that’s probably just as well. I gained enough weight eating sandwiches, chili, and doughnuts, and drinking milkshakes while working Saturdays at a lunch counter.

I took it off later with a heavy schedule of work, school, homework, and a once-in-a-great while date. But that was long ago.

I?m doing a little editing and critiquing for Al and his son, who are collaborating on a book about workdays. Their stories are different, yet alike in some respects. At any rate, it keeps me busy.
