Easy Living—SummertimeSummer-like weather is back—to stay, I hope. I had a good swim today, got a little yard work done, and attended the writing critique group meeting. Some good suggestions for polishing one of my memoir stories were offered by group members. There is a lot of diversity in the group. Age differences, genre differences, and style differences keep the meetings interesting, but don’t detract from the effectiveness. Tonight I watched two hours of competitive ballroom dancing. Figure skating and ballroom dancing are the only competitive sports, so to speak, that interest me. Dancing with the Stars is somewhat different from the formal ballroom dancing competitions. I think it’s more fun to watch because a spectator can more easily identify with the dancers, who are not all professionals. The Fourth of July holiday is not the big deal it formerly was when I was working and it was an extra day off. Also, when I lived in Vancouver, the fireworks display was outstanding. We’ll probably watch what we can see from our yard of neighbor’s fireworks and some from Tigard. It’s not as big a hassle, either, now that I no longer have a dog. All that noise is hard on animals and some of us humans. |
