Life Happens

More and more it seems, life gets in the way of my writing time. I have heard from all of my sisters recently about their schedules and so I know I’m not the only one whose retirement is super busy. I’m glad we all have interesting things to do. Sometimes I wish I didn’t have so many of them.

Right now I have so many piles of papers around me I’m getting claustrophobic. When I started separating and stacking them, I actually knew what order they were in and thought I could remember until I got them filed. No such luck. As usual, I’ll have to put them all in one stack and go through them one by one to put them away. The only advantage to that system is that some of them may now be obsolete and can be tossed.

There are extra things to do to get ready for our trip by August 17th, our departure date. My daughter and son-in-law are moving and I want to help them as much as my limited time and energy permits.

Because I’ve felt guilty the last several years about not volunteering any of my time, I’ve recently applied to be a volunteer teacher for AARP driving classes. That will take some extra time for training and preparation, also.

The hardest task is to convince myself not to stress about what I’m not doing and to save my energy for what I can do.

Back in my working days, I went to a time management seminar. The instructor arrived late. I was so dumbfounded, that I don’t remember anything she said.
