Sad Saturday

Since I’ve had my flu shot, I’ve felt under the weather. There is probably no connection. I read that the vaccine takes two weeks to activate in the system to give you immunity. The flu may have caught me before I got the shot or my sensitive stomach may just be rebelling again.

Today I spent some time catching up on reading writing ezines that I stash away on my P.C. until I have a few spare minutes. Reading about other writers’ problems and successes and the opportunities out there for contests and markets keeps my mind occupied.

Then, in mid-afternoon, we received a call from Al?’ sister that they were on the way to the hospital. His sister, a nurse, believed their mother was having a stroke. Sadly, she was right and the stroke was massive. Al is still at the hospital and will be until their mother is stabilized. The mother is 91, but very active for her age. The flowers around her little home, that she tends herself, are gorgeous. In spite of heart difficulties and arthritis, she has been keeping her own house and being a mother hen to all her family, enjoying their visits. I hope and pray for the best for her.
