A Slightly Brighter DayThe fog has lifted, the sun is shining, and there is some hope that it will warm up enough today to replant glad bulbs Al dug up for me. I gave away about a third of the crop, which varies from the size of green onions to super-large bulbs. Al is home trying to get some rest before going back to the hospital. We are in a holding pattern, waiting to see how much his mother will improve. I hope to get back to working on memoir stories later today. My employment history, from age eleven (babysitting), then thirteen (lunch counter) and so on, is the present project. World War II provided opportunities for youngsters’ employment that don’t exist today. However, the much greater proliferation of fast food outlets makes it possible for older teens to find jobs at present. |
