CrazySo far, it’s been a fun day and it’s only Noon. About 10:00 a.m. I started trying to call the Kenmore Service Department 800 phone number printed on my sales receipt and the booklet I received with my washer-dryer combination. I dialed twice and both times heard a squeal and then, “The number you have reached has been disconnected and there is no further information available.” Lovely. I called K-Mart appliance department, where I had made the purchase, and the fellow who answered couldn’t get any information right away, so said he would call back. When he called back, I was out and Al answered the phone. He gave Al what he said was the correct number that he had dialed twice and gotten through both times. When he recited the number, Al recognized it as our phone number. He tried to tell the caller it was our number, but caller insisted on repeating it several times before Al could get through to him. Our chuckle for today. Al did say there was a long embarrassed silence after that. Meanwhile, I still need the correct phone number, so when I called K-Mart back again, I was told someone would be in the appliance department after 1:00 p.m. In the interim, I went next door to Town Hall and heard the country singer we have heard a couple of times before who does a Patsy Cline imitation. I would have bought her CD if I’d taken my purse. I’ll see if I can find her website and order one there. She’s quite good and I love those old songs. In the afternoon I called again and got the number for Sears service. It was the same number I tried in the morning and it worked this time. I hate to think I misdialed twice, but there doesn’t seem to be any other explanation. |
