I’ll Do That Next Winter

This morning I finished unpacking the last three boxes in the living room. Of course I had to stop to look at some of the old pictures in the albums that were in those boxes. I thought about scanning some of them into my computer to copy onto CD’s—another winter project to add to my list. Our winters are long, but never seem to last until all the allocated tasks are completed. Some of the postponed projects get set over from one year to the next. I suppose I should face the fact that some year in the (distant, I hope) future, the winters will stop coming for me. But, in that event, it won’t matter any more whether the projects got done.

A product advertised on TV caught my attention last weekend. Normally I try to avoid buying things I see on commercials, especially obnoxious commercials, but these Hercules hooks are fasten-ating. (pun intended) The sharp needle-like end slides into drywall and curves around to rest against the backside of the wall and hold weight up to 150 lbs. (they claim) on the hook end. My research on the web included the report of a television station whose personnel tested the hooks with weights of up to 50+ lbs. because they couldn’t find anything heavier to hang on them. Their conclusion was that they worked well. I think we will try them for hanging pictures on the apartment walls with minimal damage

I’ve just returned from a wonderful swim and a relaxing few minutes in the spa. Now that the worst of the unpacking is done, it’s time to cash in on the benefits of this move. The musical program yesterday and the two swims this week are just the beginning.

I’ll need to try to get to sleep before midnight tonight, to be up and ready to greet any installation and/or repair people who show up tomorrow. Any time after 8:00 a.m. a service person should be here to look at the dryer and allegedly some installers will show up tomorrow (or not) to connect us to fiber optic internet equipment. Stay tuned.
