As the Holidays Wind DownI think I’m winding down faster this year. But, only one more party to go, on New Year’s Eve. My plan is to listen to golden-oldies and watch silver-haired oldies dance. That should be relaxing and we might meet a few more neighbors. It should be fun to watch people arriving for the party and then decide what to wear, based on what we see. Today I finished the mountain climber’s memoir. It was enjoyable, but I’ll never understand the motivation of daredevils such as mountain climbers, race car drivers, etc. I read in between phone calls from the mechanics diagnosing my car’s ailments and toting up the damages. Of course, I managed to sandwich in a few household chores here and there. Tomorrow I hope to get back to work on my own memoirs. It is helpful to read many different styles of memoirs written by people with diverse lifestyles. Our used Christmas tree won’t be picked up until January 3rd, so I suppose there’s no point in taking it down until at least the 1st. Our cleaning gal would normally be here on the 1st, since it’s Monday, but possibly will come a day or two later to get rid of all the needles for us, along with two weeks’ worth of dust and debris. As always, the best part of the holidays for me is hearing from so many old friends (fewer each year, sadly) and from relatives that I seldom see. Last night we had dinner with a large group of Floyd’s relatives. He has many more than I do. It was a delight to watch them enjoy each other’s company. |
