Sunday at Sea

After breakfast, Floyd came back to the cabin to rest and I began tending to last minute details. I read and sent email, hit the onboard shops for another look, and filled out the first of numerous forms connected with disembarkation. I took some of them to the front office and held others for later use.

Then I went to a talk to receive any additional or special info about how to get off the ship most expeditiously. We won’t need to rush, since we dock in the early morning and our plane doesn’t leave until 3:00 p.m.

After lunch, I arranged for transportation from the ship to the Ft. Lauderdale airport on Tuesday morning. In mid-afternoon I went to a two-hour lecture by an alternative medicine doctor. We had heard his first lecture, but I didn’t have a pen to jot down information of special interest. This time I took notes and got web addresses and names of books to get further data.
The lecturer is an M.D, who has ideas that differ widely from the majority of primary physicians, especially about cholesterol and statins. He quotes studies that back up his positions, just as the pill pushers do. So, who’re you gonna believe? At his apparent age, he has practiced medicine for many years, but seems to be an outside the box thinker. With most of his skin seemingly covered with tattoos, he is an unconventional looking physician, at best. He explained that tattoos protect sun worshipers from skin cancer. I think I’ll stick to sunscreen.

I returned to the cabin to join Floyd and we went to dinner shortly after that. The food is still fabulous and over-abundant. I have restrained myself fairly well, but fear I may have added a few pounds. After dinner, I intended to swim but found the water in the pool fairly rough and the air very windy. I had not gone earlier because there was no shade and I’m as pink as I plan to get. The sun was a crimson ball disappearing rapidly.

We went to the evening extravaganza of music and song with great performances, costumes, and sets. Party Gras was a fun hour of entertainment
. Back in the room, I’m writing this after filling out luggage tags for tomorrow’s packing session. Before bed, we’ll have the last of the Airborne cocktails we’ve been taking since before we left to boost our immunity. Floyd caught a cold anyway, but I haven’t yet. Not as much fun as the alcoholic kind, but what can I tell you, we’re old.
