What people are saying about My Muse Has Many Moods

“I love to read and I like to write, but I doubt that I can ever capture such incredible experiences and emotions with so few words… When I read your poems, I get this feeling that you have been living my life!” BECKY YASENCHAK, Writer.

Poetry “so alive and appropriate to our life experiences.” Late activist VIRGINA BILLINGSLEY.

“Barbara Hamby’s book subtly admits to the pain of loss, rejection, folly and false hope with acceptance and amusement. In this rare display of integrity, she is able to laugh at herself, not with anger or humiliation, but with understanding and humor. She does not spare herself or her experiences, in these accessible poems.” ARLENE E. PAUL, O.S.P.A., W.P.A., Columbia River Poets.

“It’s (Barbara’s book) a delightful addition to your library.” GEORGIA PINKEL, Older Women’s League.

Sixty Something

early evening of life,
prime time to reflect
on its direction.

Remembering the rocky
roads, as well as velvet
paths of cool green grass;
sometimes stumbling
over tangled roots hidden
by overhanging branches.

Time to ponder
which way to choose.
where shall my wishes
point my shoes?

Ma’s Master Plan

Mother Nature is no slouch.
She can get you off a couch
by stiffening your pinky
so you can’t hang on to objects dinky.

Little bitty things slip right through
       your fingers.
The effect of bending to retrieve
       them lingers.
To keep your waist from further
       expanding
Mother Nature is demanding.
