Time, Energy and Memory

Recently a poetry reading was held in Seattle to benefit tsunami relief. I was asked to send a poem. The only one I could find that seemed appropriate was one I had written after the 9/11 disaster.

Totally forgotten was a poem I’d written on December 27, 2004, the day after the tsunami wreaked its destruction.

Doing some straightening in my office this morning, the poem surfaced from a pile of papers. The ironic part is that it’s titled “Lest We Forget.”

I still want to use it, possibly in a contest, so I can"t print it here. Later I may share it with you.

Perhaps the daily tedium of trying to keep two computers up and running is wearing on my weary brain. This morning two items of software by the same manufacturer are arguing with each other. I just want to scream, “Shut up already and do your job.” But ranting at software is a waste of energy. It’s likely that a diatribe against the manufacturer would be a greater waste of time and energy.

At this time of life, I have neither to waste.
