A Lazy Groundhog’s DayApparently the Microsoft Word program on my computer decided to sleep through Ground Hog’s day. Ignoring all the publicity about today, it brought up yesterday’s date when I started writing this. I probably confused it by not getting dressed today. I took a not-really-sick, but slightly under the weather day. I skipped my writing class and took a nap in the afternoon sun streaming through a living room window. I’m listening to a radio program online where a writer is supposed to be interviewed at 6:30 our time. All I’m hearing is weird music. I have thought about signing up to be interviewed on one of these online programs but, so far, they’re not that impressive. Projects in progress surround me. Poems that need to be re-entered into my computer are in several spots. Essays and stories from my life are piled together to be re-read and inserted in the memoirs in appropriate spots. Out in another room the Rubbermaid tub full of family letters was abandoned when Al’s granddaughters were here and I haven’t opened it since. The snapshots that need to be sorted haven’t even found their way out of the nooks and crannies where they’re hiding. The good news is that I’ll have to live a lot longer to get all those things finished. Today, only the bare necessities were taken care of. I had to vacuum because I dropped, and could not find, a thumbtack. My vacuum found and swallowed it for me before my bare feet could locate it. While I had the darned cleaner out, I did the rest of the house. As part of our effort to unstock the freezer for defrosting, I took out chicken parts yesterday and made chicken soup with rice and baby carrots today. We enjoyed it in the late afternoon as a combination brunch-dinner. I think the most pressing work in progress now is to get a chapter of my book up on my website. I’m getting more hits all the time, but not selling books. A teaser chapter might help.
Time to drag myself out to the kitchen for the final chore of the day--emptying the dishwasher.
