Enjoying Early Spring

After my visit to the chiropractor today, I allowed myself to relax outdoors, sit in the rose arbor and read a magazine. The weather was gorgeous. A bird complained loudly every time Al and I spoke. I couldn’t see the bird and I’m not good at identifying birdcalls. It was obvious he resented our intrusion into his space.

For the last month or so, I’ve enjoyed watching the robins through my office window. They love the red berries on the bush just outside. When I have the sprinklers running, they will burrow into the bush, eat berries and bathe in the spray. A simultaneous shower and breakfast--how efficient!

Earlier today I revised a poem I originally wrote in June, 1998. I took it to my writing class for a critique yesterday and received some good suggestions, which I put to use. I can’t decide whether to categorize it as a prose poem or a narrative, but it’s the story of my first love, many moons ago when I was a teenager. I’ll take the revision to class next week to see what my critics think.

After a light dinner, a short nap, and skimming through email, I’m feeling satisfied with this day. That’s a definite improvement over days when I feel guilty and unproductive. It occurs to me that what I’ve actually accomplished has little to do with the degree of my satisfaction
