Christmas Rush

Yesterday my housekeeper reminded me that Christmas is just two weeks away as of today. So now I’m finally getting in gear and doing something about it. Today I decorated the one-foot living pine tree. It is barely visible under all the glitter. I decided against lights and will try to put some of the three strings of LED lights I used last year around the windows tomorrow. Strings of silvery tinsel are around the fireplace and the sliding glass doors already.

This evening I updated addresses on my mailing labels. I’ve written the annual letter and have enough Christmas cards to cover the list. Waiting until the last minute motivates me to move more quickly. Procrastination is the middle name of many writers and I’m no exception.

The very nippy weather we’ve had the last few days promotes Christmas spirit. I can do without the white stuff, however. I don’t’ need that much atmosphere.

Tomorrow I’ll have lunch with my son and daughter-in-law. I’m looking forward to an update on the major career changes they’re making in their lives.

Getting time to swim is becoming more difficult, but I manage to get to the pool three or four days a week. We few regulars are enjoying having the pool to ourselves and not looking forward to the January surge of New Year’s resolution types and the folks who will swarm around the spa when the repairs are finished.

Time to get back to the Christmas preparations
