Down for the CountToday I feel like the bantam weight boxer mismatched against a heavy weight. Never mind that my actual weight might qualify me for the latter division. In my world, computers are the heavyweights. Today they’re agin?’me and it’s a downhill fight. Bill Gates’ late mother was in my high school graduating class and, although I didn’t know her very well, I saw her as a very sweet young lady. He must have acquired his mean genes from dear old dad. Some of his software designs seem to be determined to drive us non-computer nerds to: (choose one or more) 1. distraction, 2. drink, 3. an asylum, 4. MacIntosh, not necessarily in that order. Those of you who are in my league will understand. Those who are not, don’t want to know how bad it is for the rest of us.
It now appears that I must reboot my Internet Explorer to make the danged thing work. Since I have no idea where the boot device is, I will have to spend several hours today gathering goodies together. If you never hear from me again, know that I’m buried under a pile of floppies, zip discs and CD’s. No I’m not up for DVD’s yet.
