Raining and Training

We finally have rain. Little green sprouts are showing up in the vegetable garden. Some of the flowers are bending under the weight of the water, but it’s worth it. I would have preferred that it not rain this weekend, but we’ll take it when we can get it.

We had a visit with my sister and brother-in-law this afternoon. They and my niece, who arrives tomorrow, will go with us to my son’s wedding anniversary dinner. They drove down from Seattle in the rain, towing their R.V. trailer. They are staying in a nearby park tonight.

After they left, Al and I watched a tape on lip reading, “I See What You Say.” It came with a printed manual. We both hope to learn more about lip reading, but I can see it will be difficult. Most of the people who demonstrate on the tape enunciate more clearly than the average person. Those who speak with more expression are easier to understand, also.

As a writer, I’ve noticed that some other writers who read their own work have a tendency to read fast, to drop the ends of sentences and make it more difficult for listeners. This is hard for me to understand. Maybe I’m more egotistical than they, but if I’ve written something, I want people to hear it.

Time management is another subject I need to work on. I don’t seem to be making enough time for writing lately. That needs to be changed.
