New Equipment

If I’d known how much fun it would be to have a new computer with a large flat screen monitor, I’d have taken the plunge a year ago. I held off because I was scared of Vista (the new operating system), but so far, so good. Everything operates so fast that I have almost all the documents off the old desktop. I’m going to have Richard help me move the pictures. . Meantime, I need to research the photo software on this new desktop, before I start moving pictures in.

This evening I spent some more time weeding the emails saved on the PC, so that I can transfer only the ones I want. That is, if I can figure out how to move them. There is much family history in those emails and, now that almost no one writes letters, I want to keep some of them.

The bug I’ve had the last few days seems to be leaving. I feel much better, but unusually tired. Of course, I’ve put in quite a few intense hours getting set up in this new hardware. Learning to use all the bells and whistles is exciting, but exhausting. I got a late start today because of running errands while our housekeeper was here. So I worked until almost 9:00 tonight on the computers. I miss swimming and especially miss the hot tub. I hope to get back there tomorrow.

Because I hope to attend a writers’ conference toward the end of this month, I contacted the doctor who will be scheduling my cataract surgery to get some idea of how soon it might be. He said he felt certain it would not be before the first of March. I am impatient, but feel certain the results will be worth waiting for.
