Writer’s Ramblings

While going through some of my old writing, I found a speech I’d been asked to give ten years or so ago about writing and publishing my first poetry book. Since some of my classmates in the present writing class are interested in self-publishing, I decided to modify the speech into an essay to read to the class.

I took out the bad joke at the beginning, and modified some of the details to update the information and will take it to class tomorrow.

When I ran my anti-virus software last night, I discovered I now have more than 100,000 files in this computer. Something’s got to give. Some of those have got to go. After I added all the files that were on the backup CD I found, I began deleting unneeded ones. Obviously I have much more of that to do.

A question on Jeopardy tonight prompted me to look up stereoscopes and Viewmaster equipment on the web. Al and I remembered those devices, but not much about them. With the help of the dictionary and a web search engine, I learned stereoscopes are still available from collectors and Fisher-Price toys, among others, sell Viewmasters and accessories.

With all the more modern technology available, I would not have thought there would still be interest in these very old ideas.
