Today’s the Day

Later this afternoon I’m heading for the pool and the hot tub after nearly three weeks away. Because the doctor gave me printed material that said to wait two weeks after my cataract surgery and told me verbally not to swim for three weeks, I decided to split the difference. It was an easy choice, after struggling to exercise on the treadmill again yesterday. A strong factor in the decision is the five pounds I’ve gained. I’m sure it will take me twice as long to lose as it did to gain them.

Speaking of pounds, we had a lovely family Easter dinner on Sunday and a nice visit with some of Floyd’s children and grandchildren, but I was careful not to overeat.

Our weather has turned cool this week. Yesterday morning the house was so chilly I decided to burn the last fire log we had. We probably won’t buy more this late in the Spring, which means we’ll have to clean the fireplace now for Summer. Reading in front of the fire, I appreciated how great it is to lounge around on a Monday morning after working so many years.

I’m enjoying the colors of the flowers and trees with my improved vision—if only all the pollen didn’t attack my nose. The tiny blossoms blowing onto the roof next door look like snow or hail, but it’s actually rain (or mist) that’s coming down, in typical Oregon fashion of the season.
